Why do I want to do a PhD?

I am going to do a PhD. I mean, I am applying to a PhD and hope to get the funding to do it.

A PhD is a big commitment both in time and energy. In Europe, PhDs last three years while in the US and Singapore (where I apply) they last four years. If you have a child at the start of this odyssey, then it will be able to walk, speak or even ride a tricycle when you defend your thesis. Yes, children grow up very fast!
